The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) has issued revised guidelines for the Risk-Based Credit Pricing Model (RBCPM). Habib Bank AG Zurich (HBZ) has transitioned to the revised framework effective 1st December 2025.
Under the revised model, the Kenya Shillings Overnight Interbank Average (KESONIA) rate has been adopted as the new benchmark reference rate for variable rate local currency credit facilities.
Key Highlights
- New Rate: New variable rate for local currency credit facilities will be priced using the KESONIA rate plus a margin “K”
- Existing Facilities: All existing variable rate local currency credit facilities will continue under the current interest-rate regime and will transition to the revised pricing framework by 28th February 2026, in accordance with CBK guidance.
- Fees, Charges & Disclosure: All applicable fees, charges, and the total cost of credit will continue to be transparently disclosed in the Letter of Offer and Lending Terms & Conditions, in full compliance with CBK requirements
