Habib Bank AG Zurich ("The Bank") places a high value on the security and privacy of your personal information as evidenced by our founding motto "SERVICE WITH SECURITY". By using the Bank's Website, you indicate your consent to the collection and use of such information in accordance with the following Security and Privacy Policy.

1. SECURITY

The Bank employs appropriate technical security measures to protect your personal information and ensure that it is not accessed by unauthorised persons. Information storage is secured on computers in a secure Data Centre and information is encrypted wherever possible. The Bank's security procedures also provide that it will request proof of identification before releasing personal information to you. The Bank undergoes periodic reviews of its security policies and procedures to ensure that its systems are secure and protected.

In addition to periodic reviews, the Bank's strong security framework includes:
  • o an automatic "time-out" which closes the session if your system has been inactive for a short period of time to help prevent unauthorised access to your accounts
  • robust encryption technology preventing access from any browser unable to support at least 128 bit encryption
  • unique in-house developed log-in technology
  • your unique password which is not registered until you have signed the Internet Banking Service ("IBS") Agreement and activated your IBS facility

2. PRIVACY

2(a). Cookies:

The Bank may use cookies. These are small files stored on the user's hard drive to identify their computer and preferences. The Bank's system may use this information to operate its banking processes - it may also use cookies to obtain general statistical data about users of this Website and their interests to enable it to improve the Website in accordance with user preferences.

You can configure your internet browser to warn you each time a new cookie is about to be stored on your computer so that you may make a decision whether to accept or reject it. Please refer to your internet browser's help section for specific instructions. Please note that some parts of the Website may not function properly if you reject cookies.

2(b). Your information:

The Bank may collect personally identifiable information relating to you (including name, address, phone number, e-mail address, bank account details, your electronic identifier, (e.g. Internet Protocol (IP) address or telephone number) supplied by your service provider ("Personal Information") in the following situations:
  • Information you provide: when you register to receive the Bank's Internet Banking Service or other services, or otherwise contact it to obtain information relating to the Bank or its services, or update your details held by it, or communicate with it by phone, e-mail or otherwise, or complete a questionnaire.
  • Information collected automatically using "cookies": whenever you interact with the Bank's Website, the Bank receives and stores certain types of information using "cookies". See above.
  • Information from other sources: The Bank receives information from third parties that it uses in providing services to you from time to time (including information from credit reference agencies and service providers whom it uses to process transfers to third parties).
2(c). How the Bank normally uses information about you:

The Bank will only use your Personal Information for the purpose(s) for which you provide it including, for example, to:
  • confirm your identity;
  • enable you to access, and the Bank to maintain, any on-line account you may have with it;
  • respond to your enquiries;
  • process transfers of funds to and from third parties;
  • communicate with you about services and promotional offers;
  • update its records;
  • prevent or detect fraud, or any abuses of the Website; and
  • enable third parties to carry out technical, logistical or other functions on its behalf.
The Bank only shares your Personal Information with other entities as described below. The Bank ensures, to the extent that it is able, that the parties with whom it shares your Personal Information follow practices at least as protective as those described in this Security and Privacy Policy.
  • Agents / contractors: The Bank engages other companies to perform functions on its behalf, including carrying out your payment instructions, sending customer communications, analysing data, providing marketing assistance, and providing customer service. They have access to personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for any other purposes;
  • Business transfers: in any transactions (e.g. a merger or acquisition), Personal Information is generally one of the transferred assets;
  • Fraud / Credit Risk: where necessary to prevent fraud or reduce credit risk, the Bank may exchange your Personal Information with other companies and organisations;
  • Regulatory or other agencies: where required by law or regulation;
  • With your consent: other than as set out above, you will receive notice when information about you might go to third parties and you will have an opportunity to choose not to share your information.

The Bank will review your use of the Internet Banking Service including any transactions you make to ensure that it is giving you the best possible service and to enable it to keep you up to date with products and services in which it thinks you might be interested.

2(e). Transfer of your Personal Information outside the EEA:

From time to time, the Bank may need to transfer your personal information outside the European Economic Area where this is necessary to operate your account(s), and you expressly agree to such transfer.

2(f). Accessing and updating your information:

You may request a copy of the information which the Bank has about you, or notify it of any change to your personal details, at any time by writing to Habib Bank AG Zurich, Habib House, 42 Moorgate, London EC2R 6JJ. Your personal details will be changed in accordance with your instructions.

2(g). Telephone calls:

The Bank may record or monitor telephone calls for your protection and to help it improve its service to you.

2(h). E-mails:

You should be aware that although the Bank's "HBZweb Login" option communications are secure, normal internet emails are not fully secure and others may intercept or read your email communications to the Bank. If you send e-mails to the Bank, you do so entirely at your own risk.

3. REVISIONS TO THIS PRIVACY STATEMENT

The Bank reserves the right to revise this Security and Privacy Policy or any part of it from time to time. Please review the Security and Privacy Policy periodically for changes. Unless stated otherwise, the current Security and Privacy Policy applies from time to time to all information that the Bank has about you.
