For security purpose your session will automatically end after a pre-determined period of inactivity.

To confirm your security feature, your Uniform Resource Locator (URL) should show https address instead of http. (s) is added to http, and it stands for Security.
  • In Microsoft Internet Explorer a yellow security lock will appear in the lower right hand corner. Microsoft Internet Explorer does not distinguish between 40 bit and 128-bit encryption on the browser screen.
  • In Netscape Navigator, or Communicator, a key will appear on the left hand corner. In Netscape Navigator 4.0, you may click on the icon to determine which level of encryption is being used for a particular web page. Always use the latest version of a browser for highest level of security.

What is WAP?
The Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is an open global specification that empowers mobile users with wireless devices to easily access and interact with information and service instantly. WAP includes a specification called WTLS that implements options for authentication and encryption. It is optimized for use in the mobile phone environment.

What is WAP Banking?
WAP banking allows you to check your account(s) details and carry out transactions in your account(s) via WAP enabled devices like mobile phones, PDAs etc.

I have not subscribed for WAP services with any WAP service provider. Is it necessary to do it to access your WAP Banking services?
No. However, you need internet access. Habib Bank AG Zurich is the first bank to introduce WAP Banking in the Middle East. We have set up our own WAP services and it does not depend on any other service provider.

My country does not have any provider for WAP services. Does it restrict me from using your WAP Banking services?
(See the answer above)

What are the various services offered via WAP Banking?
Theoretically, you can get whatever services you get via our Web Banking. However, WAP devices have much smaller screens and it is very cumbersome to use services like opening Letter of Credits etc. on a WAP device. Since, we do not distinguish between Web and WAP services from the service point of you, you can apply all relevant information given about Web Banking services to WAP Banking services also. (Please read FAQs on Web Banking).

What hardware/equipment is required?
You can use any WAP device such as mobile phones or PDAs to access this service via any WML browser which supports WTLS. For higher grade security, we use WTLS with 128 bit encryption to transport information to your device. So, your WAP device should support WTLS security with 128 bit strong encryption.

I have a WAP enabled mobile. But, I am not able to connect to your WAP Banking service. What is the problem?
You make sure that your mobile is set up with correct information to connect to Habib Bank AG Zurich's WAP Banking services. (See the next question). In the market, a lot of mobile manufactures claim that they support WAP on their mobiles. But, only very few of them support 128 bit WTLS for security.

How do I set up my WAP device for WAP Banking?
If your device is a wireless device such as a mobile phone, make sure that your mobile provider has enabled data communication feature on your SIM card. (Some mobile providers do it automatically when they issue a SIM card). Then, refer to the manual of your device to setup the service. The following information may be necessary to set up the device. Please note that setup procedure varies from one device to another device and all the information provided here are not asked. If you can not access our WAP Banking service via any of the WAP enabled device with 128 bit WTLS, please call us at +44 (0) 207 452 0218 or send a mail.
